Cyberpunk 2077 picked up the ‘Most Wanted Game’ award at the 37th Golden Joystick Awards on Friday. It’s not the first time that CD Projekt Red’s dark futuristic, neon-clad title has come out victorious in the category, scooping up the same award this time last year.
There were plenty of games jostling for the prize with 2017’s winner, The Last of Us Part II, missing out once again.
The title, distributed by Bandai Namco, is due out for release on April 16, 2020 and we are extremely excited to be on this journey with them, working on what is looking to be the biggest title to grace this generation of gaming consoles.
The winners of the Golden Joystick Awards were originally voted for by the British general public but are now open to anyone online, giving the awards more of an international appeal. Therefore, by their very nature, the awards tend to strongly reflect sentiment of the gaming fanbase as a whole – a fanbase that ultimately decides the fate of each and every game’s financial success.
Other winners of the night include Control, by 505 Games, which claimed the ‘Critic’s Choice’ award (the only award not voted for by the public) and Capcom who came away with the big one, ‘Ultimate Game of the Year’, for Resident Evil 2.
